July 2010 - Junior Worlds Update in Foix, France by Whitewater Ontario“On day two, Alexandra McGee, also from Ontario, uncorked an amazing run in the women’s C1 and after first runs she was sitting in 4th place.  Her second run was not as good and she ended up ninth overall for the day with a time of 164.11.  Jess Fox of Australia came first with a time of 124.05.  All 19 of the women C1 paddlers will advance to the semi finals.  This is the first Junior World Championships which have included women’s C1 and it will be exciting to see if Alexandra will put Canada on the podium at this historic race.”

June 01, 2009
OTTAWA — While competitors spent last winter in much warmer climates, Sarah Boudens was finishing the second-to-last year of her civil engineering degree at Ottawa’s Carleton University.
The lost winter of real training didn’t seem to affect her to much this weekend, though, as Boudens retained her spot on the senior national whitewater slalom squad with a second-place finish at the national team trials Sunday.

James Cartwright and Cameron Smedley of Ottawa both made the senior men’s C1 team, while Adam and Jamie Cutts, also of Ottawa, will be on the men’s C2 senior national team. Other Ottawa residents to qualify for the national team include Michael Taylor, who didn’t need his final run on Sunday to capture top spot in the junior men’s K1 event, Alexandra McGee and Thea Froehlich, who made the junior national team in the women’s C1 and K1 events, respectively.

The junior team will compete in the Summer Slalom Series, the Canadian championships and World Series races in Maryland and North Carolina this fall.
